The new owner of Cuerden Hall has published a hugely comprehensive history of the hall and grounds. The 118 page book is available to read, for free, online. It gives a wealth of detail from the earliest days of the hall, up to the present. There is a large section devoted to the work of the Lewis Wyatt, the architect responsible for much that is to be seen today. Along with copies of his correspondence are superb plans and drawings of decorative features that were to be incorporated into his vision of Cuerden Hall. Later use of the hall as a hospital during the First World War is also covered. The publication has many old photographs and maps that add fascinating detail.
You can view the book here.
There are other publications on varying aspects of the history of the hall on the new website, many of which can be downloaded in a pdf format. See the History page on the Cuerden Hall website here.
